Toyota BZ4X 2027 Interior

The Toyota bZ4X Touring interior design is a collaborative effort between Toyota and Subaru which build the Trailseeker on the same underpinnings.

One of the most notable examples of this is the set-up of the steering wheel and instrument display. The digital display screen is set far back on the dash and the wheel has a small diameter so you look over it rather than through the rim; similar to Peugeot’s polarising ergonomics.

There is also a 14-inch multimedia touchscreen, and unlike so many other modern EVs there are plenty of physical buttons and dials, too.

Toyota BZ4X 2027 Range

The Toyota bZ4X Touring has a 74.7kWh battery, which provides a claimed range of 488km.

Charging maxes out at 150kW DC and 22kW AC, but Toyota says with the DC charger it can take just 28 minutes to recharge the battery from 10 to 80 per cent.

The Toyota bZ4X Touring is a five-seat SUV. It feels roomy for a mid-size SUV, but not as spacious as some of its rivals.

Second row headroom is good and there is enough knee and foot room for two adults to sit in relative comfort.

The rear seat occupants are well catered for with their own air-conditioning, heated outboard seats and two USB-C ports.

The biggest difference between the Toyota bZ4X Touring and the standard SUV is at the rear, with a redesigned boot and tailgate.

By stretching the length, Toyota has added another 151 litres of cargo space, so the total volume is now 603 litres, which is a generous amount of room for a mid-size SUV.

The Toyota bZ4X Touring has a claimed 0-100km/h time of just 4.4 second, which is very quick for a mid-size SUV. Top speed is electronically limited to 160km/h.

Toyota BZ4X 2027 Engine

The Toyota bZ4X Touring is only available with a dual-motor, all-wheel drive powertrain, with no two-wheel drive option (as offered in its SUV stablemate).

That means all models come with a generous 280kW of power, which is very punchy for a Toyota mid-size SUV. In fact, it means it is one of the most powerful SUVs the company has ever offered.

How to charge a Toyota bZ4X (how much does it cost & how long does it take)?

There are three ways of charging the Toyota bZ4X – two at home and one in public. The first is the cheapest albeit slowest method and uses a standard 240V powerpoint with the charging cable provided by Toyota. The 71.4 kWh battery with 64kWh of usable capacity takes 30 hours to charge from 10 per cent to 100 per cent, with average energy prices in Australia costing between 21 to 36 cents per kWh. Prices can depend on demand and which state you live in, though. Alternatively, owners can install an AC wall charger through a licensed electrician. On average, the cost of these ranges from anywhere between $800 and $2000, with additional charges to install. A 7kW unit will deliver 10 to 100 per cent charging in 10 hours, while an 11kW unit will deliver a 10 to 100 per cent charge in 6.5 hours. The cost to charge can be free if your unit is hooked up to solar power. Finally, a public DC charging station will deliver a charge of 10 to 100 per cent at the bZ4X’s maximum capacity of 150kW in approximately 45 minutes. Charges depend on demand and time of day, but as a general rule you should never pay more than $40.
