There are more and more Chinese car brands entering the Australian new car market seemingly every day.

Many Chinese brands have come and gone, but brands like GWM have stuck it out in the Australian market for decades now.

Over the past few years there have been many familiar brands returning to Australian shores, including Chery and Geely, among others.

However, there are plenty of other new brands that many Australians likely have never heard of either.

In 2024, a total of 176,159 Chinese-made cars were exported and sold in Australia. In the first four months of 2025, sales of Chinese-made cars are up 13.4 per cent.

The following is a run down of all the Chinese car brands that are already selling cars in Australia and their models currently on offer.

The range is powered by a 150kW/310Nm front-mounted electric motor with either a 49.9kWh or 60.5kWh battery pack, depending on the trim level.

BYD Dolphin

The BYD Dolphin is a small electric hatchback that rivals the GWM Ora and MG4.

Following a tumultuous fight for the crown, the BYD Dolphin is currently Australia’s cheapest EV. It starts at $29,990 before on-roads.

The Dolphin is powered by either a 70kW electric motor with a 44.9kWh battery, or a 150kW electric motor with a 60.5kWh battery pack, depending on the trim level.

The Chery C5 (formerly known as Omoda 5) was the brand’s first model when it came back to Australia in 2023.

It recently received an update that saw its name changed to the C5, dropping the Omoda name in the process. This is because the standalone Omoda brand is launching in Australia during the second half of 2025.

While the C5 continues to be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, it has ditched the continuously variable transmission (CVT) and now has a six-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Chery E5

Like the Chery C5, the E5 has also dropped the Omoda from its name.

Chery hasn’t detailed the updated E5 line-up just yet, but it claims it will follow the same variant naming convention of having the Urban as the base model and Ultimate as the flagship model.

This model is currently priced from $42,990 before on-roads, to $45,990 before on-roads.

Chery Tiggo 4

Chery recently updated the Tiggo 4 for MY25 and in the process dropped the Pro from its name.

All models are currently powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, though a hybrid powertrain option is due to launch in the second half of 2025.

The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is due for an update that’ll see it drop the Pro from its name.

As it currently stands, there are two front-wheel drive petrol variants available. Pricing starts at $29,990 drive-away, and extends to $33,990 drive-away.

A plug-in hybrid version is due to launch in June 2025.

Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max

The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max is set to lose its Pro Max name from its name with an imminent update.

Thanks to a current deal, this car is the cheapest seven-seat SUV on sale in Australia. It starts at $38,990 drive-away.

Like the Tiggo 7, a plug-in hybrid version of this car is due to launch in June 2025.

The Deepal S07 was the brand’s first model in Australia and is a Tesla Model Y rival.

Available in a single trim level, priced from $57,900, the S07 is powered by a single electric motor producing 160kW and 320Nm.

Deepal E07

This electric SUV and ute mash-up is due to launch in Australia during the third quarter of 2025.

It’s priced from $64,900 before on-roads for the single-motor rear-wheel drive version, and $73,900 before on-roads for the flagship dual-motor all-wheel drive version.

Unlike many other SUVs, the E07 has a coupe-like roofline that electrically retracts to reveal a cargo section that’s like a ute. This area only has a 300kg payload, however.
