"The JAC T9 is a bold new entrant in Australia’s dual-cab ute segment, brought in by Chinese automaker JAC Motors. Launched locally in 2024, the T9 arrives with a compelling blend of value and capability, targeting buyers who want rugged versatility without a premium price tag. It’s part of JAC’s global push to expand beyond its domestic market.
Known as the Shuailing T9 in China, the T9 is built on a ladder-frame chassis and boasts a robust turbo-diesel powertrain, with a fully electric version expected to follow. Its towing and payload figures stack up well against mainstream rivals, and it’s backed by a strong warranty, aiming to ease concerns around long-term ownership.
Inside, the T9 surprises with a tech-heavy cabin and safety equipment more commonly found in passenger cars. While brand recognition remains a hurdle, JAC’s sharp pricing and growing dealer network position the T9 as a serious alternative in Australia’s competitive ute landscape."
The line-up currently starts at $41,162 for the T9 UTE Tradepro (4X4) and ranges through to $49,777 for the range-topping T9 UTE Osprey (4X4).
The JAC T9 range comes in standard Stratus (white) or a choice of six premium metallic colours comprising Karak, Huntsman, Salt Bush, Hammerhead, Red Belly and Wren, each of which are $595 options.
The entry-level JAC T9 Tradepro comes standard with 18-inch steel wheels, heavy-duty seat fabrics, wipe-clean vinyl floor, side-steps, rear diff-lock and more while the top-shelf Osprey X adds luxuries like black alloy wheels, roof rails, power sunroof, dual-zone climate, heated front seats and premium suspension tuning to name a few.
The JAC T9 cabin is spacious and comfortable with all model grades offering a tasteful blend of tones and textures including numerous soft-touch surfaces with exposed stitching.
The JAC T9 range shares the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine which produces 125kW of power at 3600rpm and 410Nm of torque between 1500-2500rpm.
