Volkswagen has revealed pricing for its 2026 Transporter mid-sized van.

It joins a refreshed line-up of commercial offerings, which includes facelifted versions of the Crafter large van, Caddy small van, and new electric-only ID.Buzz.

The 2026 Transporter is a new-generation vehicle, which again comes in either front- or all-wheel drive with a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine (125kW/390Nm) mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission or for the first time as a fully electric vehicle with a 210kW/415Nm rear-mounted electric motor.

In addition, the Transporter continues to be available in both short wheelbase (SWB) and long-wheelbase (LWB) forms for both powertrains.

It is priced between $58,590 for the entry-level SWB TDI version, to $85,590 for the top-spec LWB battery electric variant. See the full table of pricing below:

The new van represents a significant price increase over the outgoing version, which in automatic form started from $52,690, although also features a steep increase in standard equipment and modern amenities to account for the difference.

The battery electric Transporter is equipped with a 64kWh battery pack which is yet to have its driving range confirmed by Volkswagen. However, the brand does confirm it will come equipped with 11kW AC charging and up to 125kW DC charging, which it says allows a 10 - 80 per cent charge time in 38 minutes.

In addition to the variants priced here, Volkswagen says a plug-in hybrid eHybrid Transporter will also be added to the range in 2026, alongside a Crewvan five-seat variant in both SWB and LWB body styles, as well as a dual-cab chassis model as a LWB six-seater.

Sales of the Transporter have nose-dived in 2025 no doubt in anticipation of this new-generation model arriving. It is currently at the back of the pack (180 units) out-selling only the Peugeot Expert (155 units) and dated LDV V80 (38 units).

Leading the medium van segment is the Toyota HiAce which has a 47.7 per cent market share thus far in 2025, moving a whopping 6953 units. Next down the list is the Ford Transit Custom (2160 units) and Hyundai Staria Load (1959 units), with the Chinese LDV Deliver 7 storming up the charts to replace the once-popular low-cost G10.
