The Geely EX5, also known as the Galaxy E5, was unveiled in 2024 as the first fully electric SUV in the Galaxy line. Built on Geely’s latest EV architecture, it was designed to take on family SUVs with a focus on range and affordability. The model was aimed at both the domestic Chinese market and export regions, with right-hand-drive versions developed early to support global sales.
By 2025 the Geely EX5 had gained recognition under different names overseas, including the Emgrand E5 in select markets. Updates during its first years included improvements to charging speed, expanded driver-assist features and software refinements delivered via over-the-air updates. The SUV played a key role in Geely’s wider push to establish the Galaxy sub-brand as a core part of its electrification strategy.
Positioned as a practical entry into electric ownership, the EX5 has become one of Geely’s strongest global offerings, giving the brand a clear presence in the growing EV SUV class.
The line-up currently starts at $40,990 for the EX5 Complete and ranges through to $44,990 for the range-topping EX5 Inspire.
There are five colour options for the EX5's exterior - white, black, grey, silver, and green, while the interior can be chosen in 'midnight' - a darker, blue-tinged interior, or 'cloud' - a two-tone white and grey interior
Standard items on the EX5 include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights with auto high-beams, LED tail lights, a 15.4-inch multimedia touchscreen and 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, synthetic leather seat trim with heating and power adjust, six-speaker audio, as well as keyless entry and over-the-air connectivity.
The EX5 has a relatively plush interior for its price-point with synthetic leather seat trim, soft-touch finishes throughout, as well as power adjust with heating, cooling, and ventilation available on high-spec versions.
The EX5's two launch variants are only available with a single powertrain, a 160kW/320Nm electric motor with a single-speed reduction gear automatic transmission.
