The Geely EX5, also known as the Galaxy E5, was unveiled in 2024 as the first fully electric SUV in the Galaxy line. Built on Geely’s latest EV architecture, it was designed to take on family SUVs with a focus on range and affordability. The model was aimed at both the domestic Chinese market and export regions, with right-hand-drive versions developed early to support global sales.
By 2025 the Geely EX5 had gained recognition under different names overseas, including the Emgrand E5 in select markets. Updates during its first years included improvements to charging speed, expanded driver-assist features and software refinements delivered via over-the-air updates. The SUV played a key role in Geely’s wider push to establish the Galaxy sub-brand as a core part of its electrification strategy.
Positioned as a practical entry into electric ownership, the EX5 has become one of Geely’s strongest global offerings, giving the brand a clear presence in the growing EV SUV class.
The line-up currently starts at $40,990 for the EX5 Complete and ranges through to $44,990 for the range-topping EX5 Inspire.

The Geely EX5's boot can hold 410 litres. If it looks a little shallow in pictures, that’s because the total space accounts for the large under-floor area (108L on its own), leaving 302L above the floor.
There is one LED boot light, two shopping bag hooks and a wet storage area off to the side but, curiously, no parcel shelf.
The Geely EX5 is not equipped with a spare tyre.
The Geely EX5 can get from 0-100km/h in 6.9 seconds or 7.1 seconds for the Inspire time.
The EX5's top speed is electronically limited to 175km/h.
The Geely EX5's driving range is up to 430km and as low as 410km from an in-house 60.22kWh 'Aegius' short blade battery pack.
