The Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe sees two new variants hit the Australian market.

Consumers can now choose from the 2.0-litre four-cylinder Mercedes-AMG GT43 and the AMG GT63 Pro, which sit either side of the existing GT63.

The GT43 starts at $249,900 (before on-road costs), while the GT63 Pro is priced from $418,900.

It’s powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine assisted by a 48-volt hybrid system that produces up to 310kW and 500 Nm, courtesy of an electric exhaust gas turbocharger designed for immediate throttle response. This is matched to a nine-speed automatic transmission, which drives the rear wheels.

This allows it to complete the benchmark 0-100 km/h sprint in a claimed 4.6 seconds on the way to a top speed of 280km/h.

The GT43’s coupe body features narrower front and rear fenders, a redesigned front apron to facilitate larger air intakes and four round tailpipes for the exhaust.

Aerodynamics are boosted with an active air control system and extendable rear spoiler, which work together to adjust the angle of front slats and rear spoiler to five different positions depending on road conditions.

The cabin is set up in a 2+2 configuration including folding rear seats and a 675-litre boot capacity, while there is a digital instrument cluster, featuring an 11.9-inch touchscreen for the multimedia system.

Other standard kit include an electronic rear locking differential, dynamic AMG engine mounts as well as yellow brake callipers.

Buyers can boost the interior fit out with optional heated and ventilated front seats and dash cam functionality.

The AMG GT63 Pro builds on this with its bigger 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine, generating 20kW and 50Nm more than the GT63, achieving a top speed of 317km/h. It uses the same nine-speed auto to drive all four wheels. Its advanced adaptive suspension improves the car’s ride and handling.

The distinct front apron with carbon-fibre air deflectors, an underbody profile and a fixed rear wing, offer reduced lift and enhanced stability at speed.

There are 21-inch wheels in a cross-spoke design, finished in Himalaya Grey matte finish. The brakes have a ceramic with six-piston front callipers and 420-millimetre brake discs up front.

Inside there is an AMG Performance steering wheel and seats wrapped in supple Nappa leather that are heated and ventilated in the front row. It also brings carbon fibre aerodynamic elements all over.Ā Ā

A high-end 1170-watt Burmester 3D stereo with 15-speakers is included.

Buyers can option black chrome exterior elements, including the tailpipe, rear star logo and radiator shell. Customers can match this with optional interior black chrome highlights, or choose optional carbon fibre interior trim.
