At this stage only one top-spec variant of this new electric SUV has been detailed – the GLC400 4Matic with EQ Technology. Four more variants will follow.
It’s powered by a dual-motor all-wheel drive set-up with a total system output of 360kW. The 0-100km/h sprint is claimed to take 4.3 seconds and the top speed is 210km/h.
These electric motors are fed by a 94kWh lithium-ion battery that operates on an 800V electrical architecture. Claimed range is up to 713km according to WLTP testing.
Braked towing capacity is available up to 2400kg with a tow-ball download limit of 100kg.
DC fast-charging is offered at rates up to 330kW, which would see the battery charge from 10 to 80 per cent in 22 minutes. AC charging is also available at rates up to 22kW.
Depending on the market, the electric GLC offers bi-directional charging through vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G).
Externally it measures in at 4845mm long, 1913mm wide and 1644mm tall with a 2972mm wheelbase. The latter measurement is 84mm longer than the combustion GLC, allowing for more passenger space.
Internally there is 570L of boot space with the rear seats upright, expanding out to 1740L with them folded. Additionally there’s a 128L front boot.
On the design front, the electric GLC has a new “brand-defining” chromed grille. It features 942 illuminated dots that can do certain animations.
There’s also a full-width tail-light set-up at the back that’s reminiscent of the new CLA.
Inside the drawcard is the new MBUX Hyperscreen set-up that incorporates the digital instrument cluster, central touchscreen multimedia system and front passenger touchscreen into one continuous display. It measures 39.1 inches wide.
Also available inside is a ‘Sky Control’ panoramic glass roof that features 162 three-pointed stars that can illuminate.
Other available equipment includes air suspension, rear-wheel steering and vegan interior finishes.
As noted above, the electric GLC is set to launch in certain markets from the first half of 2026.
