XPeng is a Chinese electric vehicle brand launched in 2014 by tech entrepreneur He Xiaopeng. Backed by Alibaba and other investors, the company focused early on smart EV tech, including autonomous driving and in-car AI. Its first production car, the G3 SUV, arrived in 2018.
The P7 sedan followed in 2020 with sleek styling and longer range, helping XPeng gain attention outside China. Models like the P5 and G9 continued that tech-first approach, targeting younger buyers after something different from Tesla or BYD. The brand also runs its own software and driver-assist systems.
XPeng has global plans, with some models now available in Europe and Australia. Locally, the brand offers strong value and bold design paired with heavy tech integration. It’s one of China’s most ambitious EV startups.
