Fashion at the motor show

One of the early favourites was the Toyota stand, with the attendants dressed in beautifully tailored black Ginger and Smart frocks. It’s not the first time Toyota has used them, but this time thankfully they weren’t ruined by the addition of a neckscarf in the Japanese carmaker’s logo red.

Isuzu followed form with form-fitting colour-block minis that might have seemed odd with their tough-looking utes – aimed at the tradie and mining sectors – but didn’t stop them nimbly climbing in, out and over the vehicles.

And for those who like things a little left-field, the stunning costumes of the Cirque de Soleil performance on the Infiniti stand were a drawcard. We were particularly taken with the grasshopper outfits.

Boxing star Lauryn Eagle was a standout even when standing beside the Hyundai Veloster SR, working a black leather shift and hot red jacket.

The shine and draping of Jaguar’s one-shouldered numbers worked beautifully with the stunning new F-Type convertible, and came in a close second.

But in the end the gong goes to Lamborghini, with simple evening dresses featuring acres of floating black chiffon – perfect for spilling over the doorsill of an Italian supercar.
