    Is the Passat troublesome?

    I have placed a deposit on a Volkswagen Passat and the anticipated delivery date is in about two weeks. The decision to buy a Passat was made after hours of research and reading on the web, so I was concerned to read in CarsGuide about a problem in a VW test car. It made me more concerned that you did not specify the problem as you have never shied away from a VW concern in the past. I would be very interested to learn of the problem and if it is a major one I would be prepared to forgo my deposit to save future hassles and worries.

    As it transpired, it was only a loose hose that affected the turbocharger on the Passat test car but it's the first time I've had a test car that needed to be trucked away. You can read the full report in this week's Tick.
