Balance shaft on my Mercedes 2006 M272

The balance shaft on my 2006 M272 engine has gone after only 89,000 km. This is a known issue and costs about $6000 to fix. Do I have any come back with Mercedes Australia? Even if I pay for labour only, not parts?

You will have to rely on the goodwill of the company to come to your aid with this. The car is, after all, nine years old, but because it has only done 89,000 km you might have some justification for making a claim, even if it is for parts only as you suggest. It would help if you have owned the car from new and have a full history of servicing, repairs etc. I would approach Daimler and request its help in covering at least part of the cost of repairs.
