Alpha Alfa! 2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia to return as a wicked 746kW electric car to fight the Mercedes-AMG C63 hybrid car

Alfa Romeo design boss Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos is currently working on the look and style of the next Giulia.

Alfa Romeo’s super sedan isn’t dead yet, with the Italian brand confirming it is currently working on developing the next generation, as well as an SUV, with electric power… and plenty of it.

The 2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia won’t be merely a development of the current car, with a new design and a powertrain far more potent than it has currently.

In addition, since the Giulia’s (and Stelvio’s) current platform isn’t capable of electrification, it’ll be riding on all-new architecture.

Speaking to Top Gear, Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato specifically named the brand’s next sedan ‘Giulia’.

Furthermore, he says Alfa Romeo design boss Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos is already at work on the new model.

"The Giulia is back. Alejandro is on it at the moment.”

“We have to design a Giulia we will love,” Imparato said, “a connection with the past without jeopardising the future.

"It starts at 350bhp. The Veloce is 800bhp. The Quadrifoglio is 1000bhp."

For us in metric, that means 261kW, 597kW, and 746kW.

Its platform will be a new generation that evolves the concept of the Giorgio platform which currently underpins the Giulia and Stelvio to allow electrification. An ultra-fast-charging 800V architecture and a claimed 800km range are on the cards, if the ‘STLA Large’ platform lives up to parent company Stellantis’ expectations.

"I don't want you to suffer inconvenience from switching to EV. The question for me is not whether to switch to EV, it's to get the right handling and agility."

Though there are fewer details, Alfa will also bring an electric SUV and a supercar to its range, with the latter reportedly already receiving enough interest that it could be effectively sold out on launch.

"We're working on something we can put alongside the 8C in our museum, to be proud of as part of the history of Alfa Romeo,” said Imparato.
