2024 Jeep Wrangler price and features: Prices down and new engine for overhauled GWM Tank 300, Isuzu MU-X rival

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler is more affordable to get into and comes with better equipment

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler will arrive in April heavily overhauled with a new engine, new features and better safety but with a more affordable entry price.

The Wrangler range now kicks off with the four-door Sport S for a list price of $75,950 - that’s a $5500 price drop over the previously most affordable Night Eagle grade it replaces.

The price of entry for a Wrangler hasn't been this low since August 2022 when the Night Eagle was priced at $69,750, before increasing to $81,450 the following month.

The prices for the rest of the range have remained the same.

Above the Sport S is the four-door Overland with a list price of $84,950, then at the top of the line-up is the Rubicon which is $83,950 for the two-door and $90,450 for the four-door.

The new Wrangler will land in April looking fresh with a slightly different grille and new wheel designs.

The new Wrangler will land in April looking fresh with a slightly different grille and new wheel designs, but the big news is the 2.0-litre four cylinder turbo-petrol engine which replaces the V6 is the outgoing model.

There will be some fans lamenting the loss of the 3.6-litre naturally aspirated V6, and while the four cylinder produces 9kW less power at 200kW, torque is up by 53Nm for 400Nm.

Nowhere to be seen, however, is the 4xe plug-in hybrid version of the Wrangler which is offered in other markets.

Safety, too, has been increased with side curtain airbags now covering second row occupants' heads on all grades. This was a major safety drawback pointed out by ANCAP when the Wrangler was first tested in 2019 when the vehicle was given a one-star rating out of a maximum of five. This ANCAP rating was changed to three stars in November 2019 when Jeep made safety upgrades.

New standard features on the Wrangler include a ‘Gorilla Glass’ windscreen, a 12.3-inch media touchscreen, power front seats on the Overland and four-door Rubicon grades, while the latter now also has Nappa leather seats.

The Wrangler has earned a reputation for being an extremely capable off-road vehicle with its four-wheel-drive system and ladder-frame chassis. All grades come with Dana sold front and rear axles, a two-speed transfer case, traction control and four skid plates.

The Rubicon grade also comes with the new-generation HD Dana 44 full-float rear axle and a forward facing ‘TrailCam’ for better sighting over tough terrain.
