Manheim puts three of Holden's Limited Edition Commodores under the hammer.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you'll know Holden is wrapping up local production on the 20th of October and the brand has organised a Dream Cruise this Sunday to say thank you to its fans.

Another highlight of the day will be an auction of the last three Limited Edition Commodores, with the proceeds raising money for charity.

The Holdens in question are the Director, the Motorsport and the Magnum ute which are all powered by a 6.2-litre V8 engine, connected to a six speed auto.

The Director is based on the Calais and takes its name from Peter Brock’s controversial HDT VL Director, which famously brought a temporary end to the late Peter Brock's relationship with Holden in 1987.

The Motorsport is based off the SS-V Redline and pays tribute to Holden’s long connection to the racing car scene.

Lastly, the SS ute-based Magnum gets its name from a product developed by HDT in 1983. While the name was mainly applied to WB Statesmans, three Magnum utes were also built.

All are described as the last Limited Edition Commodores, however the Director and Motorsport examples both sport #5 build plaques, while the Magnum wears #111.

Holden is aiming to raise $360,000 from the auction, of which the majority will benefit The Smith Family, while 50% of what is raised by the Director will be donated to Bev Brock’s charity of choice, The Lighthouse Foundation.

Which of the Limited Edition Commodores would you bid on? Let us know in the comments.

Following a passion shared by his father and grandfather, Mitchell’s love of cars really kicked off with his Godfather’s purchase of a new Mazda RX-8. Exposure to that car changed his world forever, leading to an RX-7 obsession. To feed his automotive addiction, Mitchell decided to become a motoring journalist and made his mark at several high-profile motoring publications before landing at CarsGuide. While he is a rotary loyalist, Mitchell also has a massive love for Aussie muscle cars, and dreams of one day getting behind the wheel of a Charger R/T E49 (if anyone will let him). His other passions include Queensland, and spending Saturdays with the boys.
