2021 Mazda CX-30 pricing and specs detailed: Increased cost for Hyundai Kona, Volkswagen T-Roc and Skoda Kamiq rival

The CX-30 officially entered the Small SUV segment 13 months ago.

Mazda Australia has increased the pricing of the first-generation CX-30 small SUV for the first time since its launch in February last year.

The entry-level Pure grade is unchanged for 2021, but the next-up Evolve is $100 more expensive, while the range-topping Touring and Astina are now $200 dearer.

As such, the CX-30 range continues to kick off from $28,990 plus on-road costs for the manual G20 Pure FWD, but it now reaches $46,690 for the automatic X20 Astina AWD (see full pricing table below).

A Mazda Australia spokesperson told CarsGuide no changes have been to the standard specification of the Hyundai Kona, Volkswagen T-Roc and Skoda Kamiq rival, with external factors instead at play.

As before, G20 variants are motivated by a 114kW/200Nm 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, while their G25 counterparts are powered by a 139kW/252Nm 2.5-litre unit.

Meanwhile, X20 versions have a 132kW/224Nm 2.0-litre ‘supercharged’ four-cylinder petrol engine with Mazda’s cutting-edge SkyActiv-X compression-ignition technology and a 24V mild-hybrid system.

Only the G20 Pure FWD has two transmission options: a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque-converter automatic, with the latter otherwise standard.

Either way, drive is sent to the front wheels in the G20 variants, while their G25 counterparts have the option of all-wheel drive, which – as its name suggests – is standard in the X20 Astina AWD.

As reported, the CX-30 will receive its first update in the second half of this year. That said, local details haven’t been revealed yet.
