BYD Atto 3 2023 Interior

Yes, the interior of the Atto 3 borders on surreal with its guitar string door pockets, which actually can be played like an instrument.

There’s also the rotating media screen which can turn from a landscape to portrait position, and there’s the dashboard that’s made of a foam-like material and looks like rippled sand stretching from door-to-door in the cabin.

I think BYD might be trying to carry-off a unique and quirky interior as you’d find in a Mini. The quality of the materials or craftsmanship doesn’t appear as impeccable as you’d find on a Mini, but let’s not forget the Atto 3 is far more affordable.

How to charge a BYD Atto 3 (how long, cost & how to open charing point)?

The BYD Atto 3 can be charged according to two different methods at home, the fastest being through a 7kW AC wall unit. These can cost anywhere from $800 to $2000, with additional charges depending on your energy provider and the state you live in. On average in Australia, at home costs range between 21 to 36 cents per kW, while there are no additional charges if your charger is hooked up to a renewable energy source such as solar. The overall charging time on the Standard Range variant is seven hours, while that time extends to nine hours on the Long Range variant. The other method is a standard AC wall socket, which charges at a standard rate of 240V. BYD says this will take 25 hours on the Standard Range or 30 hours on the Long Range. The quickest method overall is at a public charging point. A DC fast charger with 50kW capacity will see a 0-80 per cent charge on the Standard Range variant reached in 50 minutes, rising to 60 minutes on the Long Range variant. A DC fast charger with 100kW+ capacity will see that time drop to 40 and 42 minutes, respectively. Costs depend greatly depending on location, whether it is a peak period or not, and what the charger’s capacity is, though you should never pay more than $40 for a full charge.

BYD Atto 3 2023 Accessories

The Standard Range and the Extended Range have the same features. Standard on both cars are 18-inch alloys wheels, LED headlights and running lights, LED tail-lights, roof rails, proximity unlocking and an automatic tailgate.

Standard on the inside is a 12.3-inch screen (which can rotate), push-button start, wireless phone charging, air conditioning, heated front seats (the driver’s is power adjustable), ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof.

Sat nav isn’t included but you can use your phone’s maps. Talking of which Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will become standard features later this year.
