The 2026 BYD Atto 3 range of configurations is currently priced from $39,990.
Our most recent review of the 2026 BYD Atto 3 resulted in a score of 7.1 out of 10 for that particular example.
Carsguide Contributing Journalist Stephen Ottley had this to say at the time: So, would I recommend this new Atto 3 Evo to my friend, or indeed anyone in the market for a mid-size electric SUV?While it may look largely the same as it did back in 2022, the Atto 3 is now a far more compelling proposition than it was then. Certainly BYD has established itself in the market and that means there is more certainty for buyers.

This is what Stephen Ottley liked most about this particular version of the BYD Atto 3: More enjoyable to drive, Well-equipped for the money, Improved cabin layout
The 2026 BYD Atto 3 carries a braked towing capacity of up to 1500 Kg, but check to ensure this applies to the configuration you're considering.
The BYD Atto 3 Evo features some noteable change in the cabin compared to its predecessor.
Specifically, the gear selector moving to the steering column to create more storage space in the centre console and the steering wheel is a new design. The other notable change is the driver instrument display, which has grown from 5.0- to 8.8-inch. There’s also a new grey interior colour trim.
The BYD Atto 3 2026 prices range from $39,990 for the basic trim level SUV Standard Range Essential to $46,990 for the top of the range SUV Evo Premium.
The BYD Atto 3 Evo Premium features a 74.8kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which allows for a claimed range of 510km, up from the 420km previously offered by the pre-updated model.
The Dynamic, however, has the 420km range, as it now uses same 60.4kWh LFP battery as the old Essential Extended Range.
BYD has kept the colour options simple for the Atto 3 Evo. There are just three to choose from for the Dynamic - Ski White, Harbour Grey and Cosmos Black. The Premium adds a fourth choice, Atlantis Grey (which has a blue tone to it).
One of the bigger changes for the BYD Atto 3 Evo over its predecessor is boot space.
With the change to a rear-mounted motor the Premium has more space, with the rear boot measuring 490L, plus there also a new 101L under bonnet storage space.
The Dynamic measures 434 litres, which is almost identical to the previous front-wheel drive model.
According to BYD's claims, the Atto 3 Evo Dynamic takes 7.3 seconds to run 0-100km/h with its front-wheel drive layout. The rear-wheel drive Atto 3 Evo Premium takes just 5.5 seconds thanks to its more powerful motor. Top speed is a claimed 200km/h.
The BYD Atto 3 is built in China, Thailand and India, with Australian examples being produced in China.

The BYD Atto 3 can be charged according to two different methods at home, the fastest being through a 7kW AC wall unit. These can cost anywhere from $800 to $2000, with additional charges depending on your energy provider and the state you live in. On average in Australia, at home costs range between 21 to 36 cents per kW, while there are no additional charges if your charger is hooked up to a renewable energy source such as solar. The overall charging time on the Standard Range variant is seven hours, while that time extends to nine hours on the Long Range variant. The other method is a standard AC wall socket, which charges at a standard rate of 240V. BYD says this will take 25 hours on the Standard Range or 30 hours on the Long Range. The quickest method overall is at a public charging point. A DC fast charger with 50kW capacity will see a 0-80 per cent charge on the Standard Range variant reached in 50 minutes, rising to 60 minutes on the Long Range variant. A DC fast charger with 100kW+ capacity will see that time drop to 40 and 42 minutes, respectively. Costs depend greatly depending on location, whether it is a peak period or not, and what the charger’s capacity is, though you should never pay more than $40 for a full charge.

Atto 3 Evo Dynamic
Atto 3 Evo Premium
There are now two very different powertrain options with the introduction of the BYD Atto 3 Evo.
The Dynamic retains the same front-mounted, front-wheel drive electric motor as the previous Essential, which provides 150kW/310Nm of performance.
The Premium, on the other hand, gets an entirely new underpinning, with a switch to a rear-mounted, rear-wheel drive motor that makes 230kW/380Nm.
The BYD Atto 3 Evo is a five-seat mid-size SUV. Both the Dynamic and the Premium come with the conventional two-three seating layout.
