Hyundai Genesis

Once known for cheap and cheerful cars that set new lows for retail pricing, Hyundai turned the notion on its head in 2014, launching the first of what will be a wide range of high-spec, premium priced cars under the Genesis sub-brand in Australia.

The first car is known as a Hyundai Genesis, though the ‘Hyundai’ is set to be dropped from the name in 2017. A 232kW 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine backed by an eight-speed automatic powers the rear-wheel drive four-door sedan. The range starts from $61,500 for the Genesis (base) and tops out at $82,000 for the Genesis (Ultimate Pack). At $82,000 the Genesis is currently the most expensive car the Korean firm makes – and the Genesis range is set to expand to six from 2018.
