Toyota, Peugeot, Hyundai, Range Rover SUVs recalled

The Australian Competition and Consumer Comission (ACCC) has this month issued call backs for Toyota’s Kluger, Hyundai’s Santa Fe, Peugeot’s 4008 and the Range Rover Velar for various manufacturing faults.

Just 21 examples of the Toyota Kluger are affected in ITS recall, with a fault in the lubrication passage of the vacuum pump possibly leading to a sudden loss of braking assistance in extreme situations, and/or the illumination of a warning light.

Meanwhile, two recalls have been announced for Peugeot’s 4008, both related to issues with the SUV’s door lock mechanism.

Affecting 296 vehicles sold from October 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015, the first call back relates to faulty right-hand door locks that could result in the mechanism failing and inoperable doors.

Peugeot’s second recall, involving 337 4008s sold between May 1, 2015 and October 30, 2015, is connected to door locks that can jam, “preventing one or more vehicles doors from closing or result in unexpected unlocking and opening”, according to the ACCC.

Hyundai’s Santa Fe large SUV, sold from June 15, 2017 to December 28, 2017, has also been called in for repair work involving the steering wheel assembly and column, which can separate while in use and result in a loss of steering control.

Finally, examples of the Range Rover Velar could suffer from a faulty fresh air flap in the heating system, leading to reduced window demisting functions that could obscure forward vision.

All four manufacturers will contact affected owners via mail where they will be directed to take their vehicles into a dealership for repair work.
