RECALL: Thousands of Volkswagen Tiguan SUVs could have their roof spoilers fall off

The Tiguan R-Line has been caught up in a new recall.

Volkswagen Australia has recalled 2627 examples of the Tiguan mid-size SUV over a manufacturing defect with their roof spoilers.

Affecting MY17-MY19 Tiguan R-Line variants sold from November 1, 2016, to December 31, 2019, the rear spoiler can partially or fully detach from the vehicle “due to deviations in the bonding process”.

If the rear spoiler were to detach while the vehicle is being driven, the risk of an accident and therefore injury to occupants and other road users would be increased.

Impacted owners will be contacted by Volkswagen Australia directly with instructions to book their vehicle in at a preferred dealership for a free-of-charge inspection and repair.

Those looking for further information can call the Volkswagen Recall Campaign Hotline on 1800 504 076 during business hours. Alternatively, they can reach out to their preferred dealership.

A full list of impacted Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) can be found at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s ACCC Product Safety Australia website.
