Toyota’s new-generation Corolla sedan will hit Australian showrooms in late November with price rises moving the point of entry $2095 upstream to $23,335 before on-road costs.

Kicking off the four-door line-up is the Ascent Sport manual with a petrol powertrain, while the continuously-variable transmission (CVT) version brings pricing to $24,835.

The petrol-electric hybrid Ascent Sport with a CVT will set buyers back $26,335, with all aforementioned four-door versions matching their respective five-door hatchback counterparts in price.

The automatic-only SX grade is priced at $28,235 and $29,735 for the petrol and hybrid powertrains respectively.

Topping the four-door range is the $33,635 ZR petrol CVT, but, unlike the hatchback, Toyota does not offer a hybrid powertrain on the top-spec sedan grade.

Powering the petrol variants is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 125kW/200Nm, while the hybrid versions pair a 1.8-litre petrol engine with two electric motors for a combined output of 90kW/180Nm.

All Corolla sedans are also fitted with Toyota’s Safety Sense driver assistance suite.

Petrol Corolla sedans will return a fuel economy rating of 6.5 and 6.0 litres per 100km in manual and CVT form respectively, with hybrid versions sipping just 3.5L/100km.

Standard equipment on the manual Ascent Sport includes LED exterior lighting, alloy wheels, an 8.0-inch multimedia touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and air conditioning.

Meanwhile, the Ascent Sport CVT gains climate control, while the hybrid version adds keyless entry and push-button start.

Stepping up to the SX grade nets buyers steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, wireless smartphone charger, satellite navigation with live traffic updates and digital radio.

The flagship ZR gets a tilt and slide moonroof, 18-inch wheels, front sports seats with heating, eight-way power adjustable driver’s pew and nine-speaker JBL sound system.

All Corolla sedans are also fitted with Toyota’s Safety Sense driver assistance suite, which includes autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, traffic sign recognition, reversing camera, seven airbags, and automatic high beams.

However, CVT-equipped versions also get adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist, while the SX adds blind-spot monitoring and the ZR gains a head-up display.
