Skoda’s Karoq SUV family continues to grow, with a new and more powerful Sportline version to be revealed at the Paris Motor Show in October.
It will be joined by a new Scout AWD version of the brand’s mid-size SUV, revealed earlier this week, which is also making its debut in Paris.
But while the Scout is primed for adventure, the Sportline is all about the extra oomph. Helping its cause is a new 2.0 TSI engine that will produce 140kW, which is paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic, making the Sportline the most powerful petrol option in the family. In Australia, the range currently tops out with a turbocharged 1.5-litre engine making 110kW.
The new drivetrain promises to be pretty swift, too. Skoda is yet to confirm performance specifications, but given the 1.5-litre engine can produce a sprint to 100km/h of between 8.4 and 8.6 seconds, we’d be expecting the bigger and more powerful engine to knock a chunk off those times.
Other new kit will include sportier bumpers, tinted widows, black roof rails and new black 18-inch alloy wheels (19-inch alloys are optional). Inside, sports seats are wrapped in three-ply Thermoflux fabric, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, stainless steel pedals and ambient interior lighting also arrive as standard.
Will we see the Sportline in Australia? VW here is keen to expand the Karoq lineup, but neither the Sportline nor the Scout are currently confirmed for a local debut.
