Genesis’ flagship G80 luxury sedan will be significantly more expensive in 2025 after receiving a stack of luxury and safety upgrades, new design and tech features, as well as a refreshed range.

The entry-level G80 2.5T variant will start at $104,000 (before on-road costs), up about $20,000 compared to last year.

That big price surge is due in part to the formerly optional $13,000 luxury package, which is now fitted as standard.

The G80 3.5T all-wheel drive variant now starts at $121,000 (before on-road costs), up from about $114,000.

Most notably, the luxury pack includes 18-way power adjustable heated and ventilated front seats with massage functions, a heated steering wheel, quilted Nappa leather upholstery, suede headliner and pillars, tri-zone climate control, a power-rear sunshade, as well as heated, ventilated and power-adjustable rear outboard seats.

New for 2025, the G80 will also come standard with a huge 27-inch OLED integrated digital driver’s display and multimedia screen, a new centre console with a heated armrest, a UV-C sanitising compartment, an 18 speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, fingerprint recognition that stores the driver’s seating position and allows for keyless start, as well as a road-noise cancelling system.

Styling tweaks include a new diamond-patterned front grille with chrome trim, a redesigned front bumper, all new LED headlights and a refreshed Genesis emblem.

Extending to the rear, the G80 gets an updated lower bumper with sculpted sides and chrome trims that emulate the shape of the car's front grille. The 2.5T variant also gets new 19-inch alloy wheels, with new 20-inch alloy wheels for the 3.5T variant.

Both G80 models receive standard four-piston brake callipers in silver with Genesis branding.

On top of a new multimedia screen and centre console, both G80 models have a new three-spoke steering wheel, a redesigned centre console with a wireless charging pad, and a stylish new fascia that links the vehicle’s air conditioner panel to the centre console.

In terms of safety features, the G80 gets Genesis’ upgraded lane keep assist, forward collision-avoidance assist, highway driving assist and hands on detection functions.

The 2025 G80 will come only in two trims, the 2.5T rear-wheel drive variant and the 3.5T all-wheel drive variant.

The 2.5T is powered by 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 224kW/420Nm, while the 3.5T is powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged petrol engine that produces 279kW/530Nm. Power is transferred through an eight-speed automatic transmission in both vehicles.

For an additional $6000, the 3.5T model qualifies for the sport package. This includes added launch control, rear wheel steering, a sport driving mode, 20-inch alloy sports wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, and exterior and interior sport styling that includes genuine carbon interior trims and alloy pedals.

The Sport package also includes four exclusive paint colours, while the rest of the range has seven to choose from.

The new G80 is now available from Genesis dealers.
