Car-subscription service Carly expands to Queensland

Carly has rolled out its car-subscription operation to Brisbane and the Gold Coast in Queensland after launching in Sydney, New South Wales and Melbourne, Victoria last year.

The expansion to Queensland also coincides with the introduction of the MG3 small hatchback onto its fleet, joining vehicles such as the Ford Focus, Kia Optima, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Qashqai, Holden Equinox, Mitsubishi Pajero and Mercedes-Benz GLC.

Carly charges users a weekly fee to access any of its cars over a one-month period, with options for Entry, Medium and Ultimate use, eschewing the commitment to a purchase or lease.

Differentiating the three tier is a kilometre cap, which if exceeded will incur extra charges.

The mileage cap is 1200, 2400 and 3600km for Entry, Medium and Ultimate users respectively, while the damage liability premium is also reduced on higher tiers.

Insurance, servicing and roadside assistance is all included in the cost of the car.

The newly introduced MG3 is the cheapest car on Carly’s fleet according to their website, priced from $154 a week, while a 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 is set from $609 per week.

Stock comes from dealerships who all prepare all vehicles before going out to customers.

As part of Collaborate Corporation, which also runs the peer-to-peer DriveMyCar service, Collaborate CEO Chris Noone said Queensland was the next logical step after Sydney and Melbourne.

“We are very excited to expand into Queensland today in Brisbane and the Gold Coast region,” he said. “Consumers have a genuine appetite for the subscription model because it is an easier and more flexible alternative to car ownership and leasing.

“Australians are increasingly using subscription services to access exactly what they want, when they want it, including movies, music and food. Cars are a logical progression.”

Carly has plans to expand to other Australian capital cities in the future.
