    We need to purchase three cars, most likely used. Firstly, a small, economical, safe car for my 19-year-daughter with a budget of $6-8000. Secondly, a small auto that's economical and safe, without a boot, suitable for a 50-year-old woman with a budget of $15-20,000. Finally, a large, automatic, economical and safe car for a 50-year-old man who likes cars and loves the look of Range Rovers, for $40-50,000.

    A Hyundai i20 for the daughter, because it's cheap and reliable; a Mazda3 for the mother, because its a great secondhand buy and ideal for her needs; and Holden Commodore for the father, because it's a great drive and the V6 is surprisingly economical.
