2020 Vespa scooter models revealed

Living the urban life? You’ve probably got your eye on a Vespa scooter, and the Italian brand has revealed a few new eye-catching models at the 2019 International Motorcycle Show.

The company is plugging into the electric mobility movement, showcasing a new Vespa Elettrica 70km/h model that, as the name suggests, pushes the performance of the existing electric Vespa to a new level.

The Vespa Elettrica 70km/h uses a lithium-ion battery and electric motor.

According to Vespa, the Elettrica 70km/h uses a lithium-ion battery and electric motor, and has a range of up to 100km. That’s in Eco mode, which limits the bike to 45km/h (the same level as the previous Elettrica). In Power mode, you can get to 70km/h, and riding range is estimated at 70km.

Other models on show include the Sean Wotherspoon - if you don’t recognise that name, Google him - he’s a well known designer. And the Vespa Primavera Sean Wotherspoon is clearly influenced by his work, with “a vintage contemporary twist in what is his trademark manner”. You can even get a matching helmet, t-shirts or a “modern tracksuit”.

Perhaps more sedate looking is the Vespa Primavera 125 (RED) special edition in, you guessed it, Rosso paint. It gets contrasting trim elements to help it stand out, and even has a red Vespa logo.

If retro is your preferred look, the Vespa Racing Sixties series will fit your bill. According to the brand, “inspiration comes from the gentlemen riders’ races of the ‘60s”, with contrasting graphics in yellow and green or red and white, It’s available in Vespa Sprint (50cc, 125cc and 150cc engines) or Vespa GTS Super (125cc or 300cc engines) spec.

The Vespa Primavera 125 (RED) special edition gets Rosso paint and contrasting trim elements.
