Forget the 2JZ, this Supra has a Hemi V8 with a ridiculous turbo

Everything is bigger in Texas, including the engines and turbochargers.

The Toyota Supra is a tuners’ dream car, thanks to the 2JZ engine having a reputation for handling large amounts of boost and producing epic power.

However, the good ol' boys at Prospeed Autosports, Houston, Texas have dumped the iconic six-cylinder engine from this fourth-generation Supra in favour for a 527ci Hemi V8.

That’s 8.6-litres, almost triple the size of the car’s original powerplant.

  • You would think a 8.6-litre V8 would create enough power on its own. (image credit: Prospeed Autosports) You would think a 8.6-litre V8 would create enough power on its own. (image credit: Prospeed Autosports)

Connected to the V8 is a turbo larger than most toddlers and its mounted right where the numberplate used to be.

The 106mm Precision Pro Mod turbo is good for 2500hp (1864kW) but the shop isn't saying the exact output yet.

Even with a full engine bay people still find a way to fit a turbo. (image credit: Prospeed Autosports) Even with a full engine bay people still find a way to fit a turbo. (image credit: Prospeed Autosports)

What’s the biggest engine and turbo combination you’ve seen in a car? Let us know in the comments.
