Is this a Nissan X-Trail update? 2024 Nissan Rogue breaks cover in the US with new design treatment and connected services for Kia Sportage, Mitsubishi Outlander and Toyota RAV4 rival

The new Rogue features a revised nose and tail treatment as well as a suite of Google services

Nissan USA has revealed images and details of an updated 2024 Nissan Rogue, North America’s version of the X-Trail mid-size SUV, with a revised nose and tail treatment as well as a suite of Google services built into higher grade models.

Highlights include a new grille and updated alloy wheel designs, as well as new colours and revised trim materials in the cabin to freshen up what is now a three-year-old model in the States.

At the same time, Google apps including Google Assistant and Google Maps have been built into the car’s on-board systems, with more available via Google Play.

US-market Rogues are built at Nissan’s Smyrna plant in North-East Texas, and offered in S, SV, SL and Platinum grades which differ from Australia’s Japanese-built (Kanda, Fukuoka) four-model ST, ST-L, Ti and Ti-L line-up.

When asked about implications for X-Trail locally, Nissan Australia told CarsGuide, “Nissan North America has recently announced details of mid-life revisions to its segment-leading Rogue SUV which was launched late in 2020.

“However, there are no imminent mid-life revisions yet finalised for X-Trail here where it is still relatively new in the marketplace – keeping in mind the most significant difference is that Nissan offers the X-Trail here with the advanced e-POWER electrified powertrain, which isn’t available to Rogue buyers in North America.”

That “yet finalised” reference leaves the door open for local updates.

For example, US Rogue buyers are offered a 150kW/305Nm 1.5-litre ‘Variable Compression Turbo’ petrol engine matched with a CVT auto on 2WD and AWD models, while Australian X-Trails soldier on with a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four producing a relatively modest 135kW/244Nm.

So, stand-by for updates on a potential powertrain swap!

Other possibilities include a new front fascia on premium grades consisting of gloss-black fender, lower exterior and nose trim pieces as well as new colour options including ‘Everest White Pearl’, ‘Deep Ocean Blue Pearl’, ‘Baja Storm’ and several two-tone configurations with a black roof.

The 2024 Nissan Rogue is due to go on sale in the USA in the first quarter of next year.
