2021 Iveco Daily specifications detailed: New engine, more safety for Ford Transit, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter rival

The Iveco Daily is available in either a van or cab chassis configuration.

Iveco has updated its Daily van and cab chassis range with new Euro 6-compliant engines, as well as boosting safety technologies and standard equipment for the 2021 model year.

Starting with the van range, three trims are available – 35S, 50C and 70C – across six different volume capacities, rear- or all-wheel drive, and four gross vehicle mass (GVM) options including two for passenger car licence holders.

The cab chassis range meanwhile, is offered in 50C and 70C form, with multiple wheelbase choices and four GVM options.

Those after a camper-home conversion can opt for the ‘Power Take-Off’ and expansion module, for the easier fitment of different bodies, according to Iveco.

Three engines are available, kicking off with a 100kW/350Nm 2.3-litre turbo-diesel available exclusively in the 35S van.

A 132kW/430Nm 3.0-litre engine is also available to most van and cab chassis grades, while a 155kW/470Nm version is also available across the line-up.

To meet Euro 6 compliance, the new engines use ‘Selective Catalytic Reduction’ (SCR) technology with AdBlue injected into the hot exhaust to eliminate nitrogen oxides.

Paired to each engine is a six-speed manual gearbox or eight-speed automatic transmission, the latter of which also comes with ‘Eco’ and ‘Power’ modes.

Safety is also significantly lifted with the availability of autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control, crosswind assist, updated electronic stability control systems, lane departure warning and hill decent control, as well as lane departure warning carrying over.

Standard equipment includes electric mirrors, heated and electronically adjustable side mirrors, keyless entry, electronic parking brake, LED headlights, heated driver’s seat, air conditioning and a colour TFT driver display, while the steering wheel has been reworked with better ergonomics.

Sitting between the driver and front passenger is a ‘Hi-Connect’ multimedia system with satellite navigation, Bluetooth connectivity and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support.

Available as an option is a ‘run lock’ feature that will allow drivers to exit the vehicle for deliveries or drop offs and automatic lock the car while keeping the engine running, while other add-ons include a wireless smartphone charger and a heated passenger seat.

Four upgrade packs are available with each vehicle – ‘Hi-Business Pack’, ‘Hi-Comfort Pack’, ‘Hi-Technology Pack’ for automatic and manual vehicles – to “tailor a specification package to best suit the application, while receiving more value by grouping options,” according to Iveco.

Pricing is yet to be made available for the full range, but a special Tradie-Made variant that features a unique heavy-duty aluminium tray (offered in two sizes), a 132kW/430Nm 3.0-litre engine and three-years/150,000km of free scheduled servicing is available for $58,700 before on-road costs and $59,700 for the short- and long-tray versions respectively.
