Toyota Prado 2013: Out of warranty rights

We have a 2013 Toyota Prado owned from new with only 83,000 km on the clock. The radio unit has stopped working and it's continually trying to reboot. We have spoken to our local dealer in regards to this, but apparently it's out of warranty. What are our rights in regards to the warranty, as this is a known issue with the unit?

Even though Toyota’s warranty has expired you have some rights under the consumer affairs laws if you can show that the radio is unfit for purpose. Contact your state consumer affairs department and ask them for their advice on what action you might take.
