The entry-level D-Max, the SX, is available in several different body styles and with a choice of manual gearbox or auto transmission.

The 4x2 models range in price from $28,600 (for the 4x2 single cab chassis manual) through to $38,700 (for the 4x2 crew cab ute auto).

The 4x4 model ranges in price from $38,200 (for the 4x4 single cab chassis manual) to $46,700 (for the 4x4 crew cab ute auto).

All 2018 D-Max variants have a 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine (130kW at 3600rpm and 430Nm from 2000-2200rpm) matched to a six-speed manual or auto.

Standard SX-spec gear includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen, halogen headlights, hill descent control, colour-coded front bumper, black door handles, air conditioning, power windows, keyless entry, leather steering wheel and vinyl flooring.

Suspension is independent up front with coil springs and gas shocks, and heavy-duty leaf springs at the rear.

Braked towing capacity is 2500kg for the low ride single cab chassis and 3500kg for the rest of the mob. Ground clearance ranges from 190mm (for the low ride 4x2 single cab chassis) to 225mm for 4x4 SX models.
