The EX is the cheapest D-Max 4x4 you can buy. It’s available only as a single cab chassis High-Ride with four-wheel drive and a manual transmission, and costs $35,000.

All 2018 D-Max variants have a 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine (130kW at 3600rpm and 430Nm from 2000-2200rpm) matched to a six-speed manual or auto.

Standard gear includes a four-speaker stereo with CD player and AM/FM radio, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, air-conditioning, halogen headlights, hill descent control, leather steering wheel with audio controls, 16-inch wheels and tyres, and vinyl flooring.

Suspension is independent up front with coil springs and gas shocks, and heavy-duty leaf springs at the rear.

Braked towing capacity on the EX is 3500kg and ground clearance is 225mm.
