Peugeot 508 2019 pricing and specs confirmed

Due in the third quarter of 2019, Peugeot Australia has confirmed local pricing and specifications for its new 508 mid-sizer.

Priced from $53,990 plus on-road costs, Peugeot will offer just one spec of the 508 in Australia - the 1.6-litre turbo-petrol GT.

Fully loaded with kit such as Nappa leather upholstery, AEB, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, inbuilt satellite navigation through an 10.0-inch multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the 508 will occupy the upper end of the mid-size segment.

Inside the cabin is a 10.0-inch multimedia screen that controls sat nav plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Just two options will be available to buyers in Australia: metallic paint and a sunroof.

Competing with cars such as the Mazda6 Atenza, Volkswagen Arteon and Skoda Superb, the 508’s swoopy styling and  the promise of spritely performance should win it friends in Australia.

Featuring a 167kW/300Nm 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the 508 GT is claimed to be capable of a 7.3 second sprint to 100km/h. Fuel economy data is yet to be announced, though the GT returns 6.5L/100km on the European test cycle.

Now a liftback instead of a sedan, the 508 offers a 487-litre boot, with up to 1537L available with the rear seats folded - the wagon is even larger

Peugeot also confirmed that the 508 GT will also be available as a wagon, though timing is yet to be announced.
