Hyundai is teasing the midlife update for its Kona small SUV that will introduce a fresh face for the popular crossover, as well as the sportier N-Line grade and, expectedly, the flagship N performance hero.
Though only shadowy images have been shown, the new Kona will wear a fresh grille that features design elements that run the width of the bumper to emphasis the breadth of the SUV.
Updated daytime running lights will also feature, while a front skid plate and reworked bumper will “add to its armoured appearance”, according to Hyundai.
Hyundai has also begun teasing the N-Line version of the Kona small SUV, which will wear a bumper with a three-slot opening near the bonnet for, assumedly, better airflow to the engine.
The lower front bumper will also sport a larger air intake inlet and be styled more aggressively.
Speculation points to a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine for the N-Line, which will output 158kW, which will be paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
It is expected that the 110kW/180Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine that drives all existing front-wheel-drive Konas will carry over, but the 130kW/265Nm 1.6-litre turbo-petrol will be upgraded slightly to output 132kW.
However, what is likely to top the new Kona range is the heavily rumoured N variant, which scores a full-fat 202kW/378Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that is also shared with the i30 N and i30 Fastback N.
Further details of the fresh Kona will be revealed soon.
