The electric car onslaught will continue in 2026 with the announcement of more than 20 new models in Australia. 

It’s not just Chinese brands who are continuing to get in on the act, but a range of established manufacturers are stepping up their EV game next year.

Kia EV4 sedan - January 

Kia’s all-electric sedan will hit Aussie roads in January next year. It will have a front-mounted electric motor that produces 150kW, but there could be a more powerful dual-motor all-wheel drive variant later on. 

It is likely to get two battery sizes: a 58kWh standard range and 81kWh long range pack.

Kia EV9 GT - January 

It provides some serious power, with 374kW and 740Nm. It achieves a 0-100km/h time of 4.5 seconds and comes with a 100kWh battery, delivering 410km of range.

Jaecoo J5 BEV - February 

Jaecoo, the premium arm of Chery, will launch its J5 BEV small SUV in February of next year.

It comes with a 155kW electric motor and a 58.9kWh LFP battery, which offers a driving range of 402km.

Leapmotor B10 - Q1

Another smaller SUV option comes from Leapmotor with its B10 in the first quarter of next year.

The B10’s rear-mounted electric motor makes 160kW and 240Nm, and its one Australia's cheapest EVs starting from $38,990, before on-road costs.

Mazda 6e - Q2

Mazda will re-introduce its electric flair in the second quarter of 2026 with the 6e.

It will be priced from under $55,000, before on-road costs, and gets a rear-mounted electric motor producing 190kW and has a 78kWh battery. 

The car will have a range exceeding 500km, according to Mazda and can charge from 30 to 80 percent in around 15 minutes. 

Suzuki e Vitara - Q2

Around the same time, Suzuki’s e Vitara will launch as a small SUV.

There are two power options for its single electric motor, producing either 107kW/193Nm or 129kW/193Nm.

There is also a choice of batteries: 49kWh or 61kWh, with the bigger battery achieving a claimed driving range of 500km. 

Toyota bZ4X Touring - Q2

Toyota's bZ4X Touring joins the range as a stretched version of its bZ4X SUV.

With dual electric motors, it will produce 280kW and its 75kWh battery will have a driving range of more than 500km.

Kia PV5 - Q3

Kia’s PV5 people mover will enter Australia in either the second or third quarter of 2026.

The PV5 has two battery options, the largest is 71.2kWh and boasts DC charging of 10-80 per cent in less than 30 minutes. 

Polestar 5 - H1

Polestar’s next car will launch in the first half of 2026 as a grand tourer. 

The Polestar 5 will be an expensive option, starting from $171,000. It will have loads of go, with 550kW and 812Nm for the single motor variant. 

There is a performance model, which has dual motors and has 650kW and 1015Nm, starting from $193,100 (before on-road costs). 

Hyundai Ioniq 6 N - H1

Another high performance car in the first half of 2026 comes from Hyundai with its Ioniq 6 N fastback. 

The Ioniq 6 N has dual motors, achieving 478kW and 770Nm, with a 0-100km/h time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 257km/h. 

Its 84kWh battery grants a driving range of 487km, according to the WLTP measuring standard. 

Toyota HiLux EV - H1

Toyota will introduce its first electric ute in Australia in the first half of 2026. 

The HiLux gets a unique dual-motor set-up that houses a front motor of 205Nm and a rear motor of 268Nm. 

A significant drawback for the ute is that it can only offer a driving range of 240km (WLTP) from its 59.2kWh lithium-ion battery.

Lexus RZ - Mid year

There will be a new luxury electric SUV in the middle of 2026 from Lexus. 

The RZ has 300kW and can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds, while its bigger 76.7 kWh battery has improved driving range by up to 14 per cent to more than 450km.

It is anticipated the new RZ will come in above the $121,059 starting price tag of its predecessor. 

BMW iX3 - Mid year

The BMW iX3 is an SUV that offers some of the best driving range on the market and will launch in the middle of next year. 

At up to 805km (WLTP), it exceeds the range achieved by many of its rivals, while its 10-80 per cent charging time is 20 minutes. 

The 345kW/645Nm dual motor set-up means the car can shift from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds. 

Leapmotor B05 - Q3

Leapmotor will add a hatchback to its growing lineup in the third quarter of next year.

The B05 has two battery choices which are 56.2kWh or 67.1kWh, while DC charging is up to 168kW. 

Kia EV2 - H2

Kia will unleash another electric competitor in the second half of 2026 as a small SUV. 

The EV2 will have a driving range of over 450km, and has DC charging capacity from 10-80 per cent in 31 minutes.

Kia EV4 hatchback - H2

Another mid-year entrant from Kia is the EV4 hatchback.

It has two battery choices which are a 58.3kWh standard and 81.4kWh long-range, with a single electric motor producing 150kW and 283Nm. 

Mercedes-Benz GLC EV - H2

One two mid-year launches for Mercedes-Benz is its GLC SUV EV. 

The top-spec example has a dual-motor four-wheel drive system that achieves 360kW, with a 0-100km/h time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 210km/h.

There is a 94kWh lithium-ion battery that has a claimed driving range of 713km as per WLTP testing. 

Mercedes-Benz CLA EV - H2

Mercedes is launching its CLA EV. 

The top-of-the range variant will have a near 800km WLTP range from its 85kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery.

Haval Jolion Max - 2026

Haval’s Jolion Max will join in the second half of 2026. 

It will join as a slightly bigger version of the compact-SUV petrol variant. 

Hyundai Nexo - 2026

The Hyundai Nexo has been scheduled for a launch some time next year. 

The small SUV has received a power boost now up to 190kW and 400Nm, which helps the car achieve a snappier 7.8-second 0-100 time. 

Genesis GV60 Magma - 2026

The final 2026 launch on this list is Hyundai's answer to the luxury European performance brands. 

The Genesis GV60 Magma is likely to be similar to Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N, with specific details still scarce.
