Some of the biggest and best in the business are preparing fresh metal to hit Aussie roads next year.
And there'll be something for everyone with new petrol, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric options on the table.
Here are all the family cars coming in 2026.
Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Q1
Australia's favourite SUV has been given a major upgrade. It features new looks, more tech, increased safety and improvements to how it drives.
Prices are up, too.
Volvo EX90 800-Volt - Q1
Volvo is heavily updating its large EX90 SUV with new 800-volt architecture. This will make it faster charging, more efficient and have a higher power output.
Mazda CX-5 mid-year
The new CX-5 is bigger and more luxe than before. Styling is an evolution rather than a revolution.
Sadly it'll launch with the same petrol engine as the current version, with a new hybrid set-up to arrive more than a year later.
Mazda 6e - Q2
Mazda's newest electric car is confirmed for next year. It is spawned from Mazda's partnership with Chinese maker Changan and prices will start from $55,000 before on-road cost, which puts it on a collision course with the Tesla Model 3 and BYD Seal.
Lexus ES mid year
Lexus's fancy mid-size sedan is getting ready to pamper a new breed of families from the middle of next year.
It will feature hybrid power, and for the first time, battery electric grunt.
BMW iX3 - Mid year
Germany is fighting back with a new era of electric SUVs. BMW is launching is new iX3 based on its Neue Klasse electric platform that promises some seriously impressive stats.
It'll have a driving range of up to 805km, can charge at up to 400kW and have potent performance.
Toyota RAV4 PHEV Q3
Toyota is finally adding plug-in hybrid tech to its family favourite.
Three plug-in hybrid variants will be available and they will bet he most powerful RAV4s to date and will boast an EV driving range of about 100km.
Mercedes-Benz GLC EV - H2
Merc is also getting in on the act with its new electric GLC to take on BMW's iX3. It will have a driving range of up to 713km and can charge at speeds up to 330kW.
Hyundai Nexo - 2026
Hyundai's next-gen Nexo hydrogen fuel cell SUV is due next year. It is a different type of electric car, converting hydrogen to electricity to power motors rather than storing the energy in a battery.
Omodoa 7 SHS - late 2026
Chery's new sub-brand Omoda, which focuses on electrified tech-heavy vehicles, will add the 7 mid-size SUV to its line-up. It will use plug-in hybrid power.
Jaecoo J8 SHS - late 2026
Chery's luxury-focused sub-brand — Jaecoo — is fleshing out its local line-up with a plug-in hybrid version of the five seat large J8 SUV.
It promises to be packed with luxury kit at an affordable price.
