New face who dis? 2024 Mercedes EQA and EQB electric cars get slick looks, more range, new tech and this is when they're landing in Australia

Mercedes-Benz’s smallest electric SUVs - the EQA and EQB - have been given new front-end styling, better features and an efficiency boost in the latest update for the models.

Both the EQA and EQB will now wear the same sleek, black one-piece ‘grille’ of the larger electric SUVs in Mercedes-Benz’s EQ range complete with illuminated stars while retaining the continuous LED strip connecting the headlights.

Four new wheel designs in 18-, 19- and 20-inch sizes are also available for the first time, along with two new colours as well. The tail-lights of both models also have new designs.

The exterior tweaks aren’t just cosmetic - changes to the aerodynamics of the EQA and EQB have increased the range of these electric SUVs. The EQA with Mercedes-Benz's 4Matic all-wheel-drive system now has a range of up to 560km (WLPT). 

That’s an impressive jump from the 400km range of the current EQA350 4Matic. The increase in efficiency was also achieved through high rolling resistance tyres fitted as standard to the models, too.

Inside the changes are quite minimal with the existing steering wheel being carried across to the refreshed models, but an updated version of Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment system has been added for sat nav and media.

For the first time, too, both the EQA and EQB come with a range of synthesised sounds similar to those on Mercedes' more expensive electric models. When used with the optional Burmester stereo owners can now be accompanied by the dulcet tones of ‘Silver Wares’ and ‘Vivid Flux’ on their journey.

Mercedes-Benz Australia told CarsGuide the updated versions of the EQA and EQB will arrive in the first half of 2024. 

Pricing and full specifications have yet to be announced for Australia but expect a small price increase over the outgoing models.

Currently the EQA line-up starts at $81,700 for the EQA250 and tops out at $102,579 for the EQA350 4Matic.

The EQB line-up begins at $87,800 for the EQB250 and heads north to $106,155 for the EQB350 4Matic.

Both the EQA and EQB currently come standard with dual 10.25-inch screens for media and driver instruments, they also both have sat nav, digital radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, rear privacy glass and Artico faux leather upholstery.
