2024 Kia Sorento pricing and specs: Australian details confirmed for petrol and diesel variants ahead of Toyota Kluger rival's new hybrids coming soon

The updates to Kia’s seven-seat large SUV mean it’s now a few thousand dollars pricier.

After being revealed globally in late 2023, the facelifted Kia Sorento now has pricing confirmed for Australia in its petrol and diesel variants, with new designs and updated tech bumping prices up compared to last year.

Now starting from $50,680 before on-road costs, the 2024 Kia Sorento large SUV is a little more than $3000 pricier than before in all its variants, from the S ‘base’ model up to the top-spec GT-Line.

Each variant is available as either a petrol or diesel variant, with the latter $3000 more expensive than the equivalent in petrol guise. Kia Australia says hybrid and plug-in variants will follow in the first half of 2024.

The two drivetrain options set to arrive first remain unchanged from before - the petrol being a 3.5-litre V6 making 200kW and 332Nm driving the front wheels and the diesel a 2.2-litre turbocharged engine good for 148kW but a beefier 440Nm of torque.

When the standard and plug-in hybrids arrive, they’ll still use the existing 1.6-litre petrol engine and produce 169kW in hybrid form and 195kW in plug-in hybrid guise, with both offering 350Nm.

Key changes to the range include a ‘simplistic’ 4.0-inch drier display to replace the analogue gauges, or a new dual-panoramic display for the driver and multimedia screens available in the GT-Line, with both screens measuring the same 12.3 inches.

The rear-view mirror is also able to be switched to digital mode, a trick taken from the new electric Kia EV9 large SUV, which can display a feed from a rear-mounted camera for extra clarity.

Key changes to the range include a ‘simplistic’ 4.0-inch drier display to replace the analogue gauges, or a new dual-panoramic display for the driver and multimedia screens available in the GT-Line, with both screens measuring the same 12.3 inches.

Importantly, new safety features includes Highway Driving Assist (HDA) as part of its next-gen Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), available in Sport trim upwards, which comes into effect for highway driving and “builds on adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability” to improve Lane Following Assist (LFA) to centre the car within a lane, even in cornering.

The GT-Line also now comes with Parking Distance Warning that includes sides of the car to avoid parking collisions.

The Sorento retains its five-star ANCAP safety rating as granted when the current generation was tested in 2020.
