The Cupra Leon began life as a high-performance version of the SEAT Leon, earning a cult following in Europe for its sharp dynamics and turbocharged punch. When Cupra split from SEAT in 2018 to form its own standalone brand, the Leon was among the first models rebadged under the new identity, reimagined to reflect a more premium, sporting edge.

By the time the fourth-generation Cupra Leon launched globally in 2020, it featured striking copper accents, aggressive styling and a broader powertrain mix, including plug-in hybrid options. Built on Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform, it shares DNA with the Golf GTI but leans into a bolder, more expressive design and a sportier driving feel.

In Australia, the Cupra Leon arrived in 2022 as part of the brand’s local launch, offering a Euro alternative to the hot hatch norm. With variants like the VZ and VZe, it’s become a compelling contender in the compact performance car segment.

The line-up currently starts at $46,990 for the Leon S and ranges through to $69,990 for the range-topping Leon Vze.
