This popular ute has just received a specialist Australian boost.

Mitsubishi has released details of two special edition Triton ute variants for Australia, which feature exclusive tradie and touring packages.

The packages combine popular accessory options for customers.

The Triton is one of the best-selling diesel utes outside of the Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux duopoly, competing with the similarly-priced Isuzu D-Max and Mazda BT-50.

It is Mitsubishi’s second best-seller behind the Outlander SUV

The first of the two new Triton models is a tradie-targeted version of the GLX-R dual-cab pick-up, which starts from $58,490 (before on-road costs) - $1250 more than the standard variant of the car.

The GLX-R is an upgraded version of the GLX, and has 18-inch black alloy wheels among other up-market gear.

Add-ons as part of the tradie pack include side steps, tray bed liner, rubber floor mats and weather shields.

There is a matte black hood protector, while the sports bar has been removed to allow for a canopy fitment.

A tow bar and accessory kit has also been fitted, and the car can be optioned with an exclusive premium white paint.

The total cost of purchasing these add-ons individually from Mitsubishi would be $4397, which equates to a saving of $3147 with the tradie pack.

The sports bar usually equipped to the GLX-R is removed as part of the tradie pack, which is worth $1610 so the total saving in consideration of that is $1537.

The other special edition model is for the range-topping GSR dual-cab pick-up.

It receives the touring pack, which starts from $66,140 (before on-road costs) - $1550 more than the standard version.

This makes it the most expensive variant of the Triton on the market after the regular GSR received a $1450 price increase late last year.

It also gets a tow bar and accessory kit, black nudge bar, black hood protector and weather shields.

Additionally, there is a rubber tub mat as part of the added kit.

The cost of purchasing these items individually from Mitsubishi would be $3752, so the touring pack offers a saving of $2200.

An updated Triton was released in early 2025, receiving an upgraded design, but with a familiar 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine, producing 150kW and 470Nm.

The new special edition models come after the brand shelved plans for an electric version of its Triton ute late last year, potentially a favouring a move to a long-touted hybrid set-up.

The special edition Triton variants are expected to be in showrooms next month.
