    Ask Smithy Xtra Change coils with spark plugs

    Ford Ford Advice Ford Falcon Ford Falcon Advice Ford Falcon 2003
    My mechanic has told me that the coils on my 2003 BA Falcon should be changed along with the spark plugs and cannot be changed alone, which would pump the cost up to around $500, and the car's spark plugs need to be changed urgently. Is he correct?

    No, he’s not. You wouldn’t change the coils unless they were breaking down and causing the engine to misfire. You can change them at any time, not just when you change plugs.
