2023 Range Rover Evoque price and features: PHEV leads Land Rover's new line-up of plug-in hybrid electric cars - Range Rover, Defender and Velar included

The Range Rover Evoque is now available in with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, dubbed P300e.

Land Rover Australia has announced a new line-up of plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) for MY23, starting with the Range Rover Evoque P300e mid-size SUV that’s now available to order.

Exclusively available in R-Dynamic HSE form, the P300e is priced from $102,001 plus on-road costs, meaning it commands a $19,302 premium over its P250 counterpart, which instead uses a 184kW/365Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine.

The P300e, on the other hand, pairs a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol three-cylinder engine with a rear-mounted electric motor for combined outputs of 227kW/540Nm. It also has a 15.0kWh battery that provides 62km of zero-emissions driving range (WLTP).

Charging-wise, a 32kW DC fast charger will increase the battery’s capacity from zero to 80 per cent in half an hour, while a 7kW AC charger can do the same job in two hours and 12 minutes.

While the P250 and P300e are both all-wheel drive, the former is mated to a nine-speed torque-converter automatic transmission, while the latter differs with an eight-speed unit.

Of note, an R-Dynamic SE version of the P250 is available for $78,052, while the Evoque’s P200 (147kW/320Nm petrol) and D200 (150kW/420Nm diesel) 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine options have been removed from sale for MY23.

On January 27, order books will open for the Range Rover 510e upper-large SUV, which pairs a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol inline six-cylinder engine with a rear-mounted electric motor for combined outputs of 375kW/700Nm. Its 38.2kWh battery delivers 80km of zero-emissions driving range.

Finally, P400e versions of the Range Rover Velar and Defender large SUVs will be available to order from the second and third quarter of this year, respectively.

The shared P400e powertrain pairs a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine with a rear-mounted electric motor for combined outputs of 297kW/640Nm. Its 19.2kWh battery offers 53km (Velar) or 43km (Defender) of zero-emissions driving range.

Pricing for the Range Rover 510e, Velar 400e and Defender 400e will be released closer to their respective launches. Stay tuned.

Justin’s dad chose to miss his birth because he wanted to watch Peter Brock hopefully win Bathurst, so it figures Justin grew up to have a car obsession, too – and don’t worry, his dad did turn up in time after some stern words from his mum. That said, despite loving cars and writing, Justin chose to pursue career paths that didn’t lend themselves to automotive journalism, before eventually ending up working as a computer technician. But that car itch just couldn’t be scratched by his chipped Volkswagen Golf R (Mk7), so he finally decided to give into the inevitable and study a Master of Journalism at the same time. And even with the long odds, Justin was lucky enough to land a full-time job as a motoring journalist soon after graduating and the rest, as they say, is history. These days, Justin happily finds himself working at CarsGuide during the biggest period of change yet for the automotive industry, which is perhaps the most exciting part of all. In case you’re wondering, Justin begrudgingly sold the Golf R (sans chip) and still has plans to buy his dream car, an E46 BMW M3 coupe (manual, of course), but he is in desperate need of a second car space – or maybe a third.
