Upgraded 2024 Tesla Model 3 electric car officially breaks cover! Will cosmetic and engineering improvements make this EV sedan an even bigger Aussie favourite?

Details on the much-anticipated Tesla Model 3 upgrade have finally dropped with the pure EV sedan picking up revised stability and traction controls, exterior and interior cosmetic tweaks, as well as extra equipment and tech for occupants.

On the outside the car’s face has been given a makeover in the name of improved aero performance, with new “wing-shaped” headlights featuring integrated fog lights.

At the same time, a new single-piece tail-light design has been integrated into the boot lid to “improve fit”, new 18- and 19-inch wheels have been added for a fresh look and better aero, while two new colours - ‘Stealth Grey’ and ‘Ultra Red’ - have been added to the Model 3 palette.

On the inside an 8.0-inch touchscreen has been added for rear passengers, managing climate control and multimedia functions. The 15.0-inch front touchscreen remains but the UI has been updated for improved brightness and sharper response.

There’s also a new steering wheel and, in an attempt to further streamline the dash and ancillary functions, the ‘Smart Shift’ drive selector has been moved to the touchscreen while column stalks have been replaced with on-wheel controls including haptic switches and physical buttons.

The centre console has been reshaped for improved utility (with dual wireless device charging available) and the cabin is claimed to be quieter thanks to the use of "360-degree acoustic glass technology”, revised suspension bushing, improved aperture sealing and additional sound-deadening materials.

“Softer, more sophisticated materials” have been applied throughout the cabin, ventilated front seats are now integrated into the climate control system (with adjustment available through the touchscreen) and the finishing touch is ambient lighting offering over 200 colour combinations to play with.

Under the skin, the new Model 3 benefits from updated stability and traction control systems for better power distribution and safety on slippery surfaces.

The new model is scheduled to be available in Australia from January, 2024 with pricing set at $61,900 (+$600) for the rear-wheel drive model and $71,900 (+$1500) for the Dual Motor AWD Long Range.
