Ford's popular ute and SUV ranges have taken a slight hike in price as two new variants are added.

Ford has tweaked pricing of its popular Ranger ute, with rises across the entire range encompassing both 4x2 and 4x4 models, as a new Platinum grade joins the line-up.

Starting at the base of the range, the XL, XLS, and XLT 4x2 models have jumped between just $250 for the base XL 2.0-litre turbo single-cab chassis (now starting from $36,180 before on-road costs) and $800 for the XLT dual-cab bi-turbo (now $54,790).

Similarly, in the 4x4 range, prices have increased as little as $250 for the entry-level XL Single Cab bi-turbo model, which now starts from $47,280 before on-roads, with increases stretching to $1000 for the Wildtrak 3.0-litre V6, which now starts from $71,190.

But the Ranger Raptor has seen the biggest overall increase, with its price jumping $1300 to a new high of $86,790.

Meanwhile the new Platinum grade joins the Ranger line-up, with a more luxurious trim level which matches that of the Everest Platinum. It is only available as a dual-cab V6, and sits between the Wildtrak and Raptor, with a starting price of $76,990.

On the topic of the related Everest, the Ranger-based off-road SUV has also seen similar price hikes for what Ford calls the 23.5MY version. The Everest Range now stretches from $53,290 before on-roads for the base Ambiente 2.0-litre bi-turbo (up just $300), to $77,530 for the Platinum 3.0-litre V6 (up $650).

The Everest also receives a new variant as part of the half-model-year change, a 2.0-litre bi-turbo version of the Sport in RWD format. Previously, the Sport grade was only available as a 3.0-litre V6 in 4WD guise. The new bi-turbo RWD version starts from $62,790 before on-road costs.

A Ford Australia representative explained the price tweaks for both cars were due to ongoing supply issues, and that due to semiconductor shortages, the heated wing mirrors and internal motion sensors as part of the anti-theft suite had been removed from the variants which had them equipped.

The new Platinum Ranger grade is set to arrive from mid-2023, and Ford’s website says popular grades like the XLT, Wildtrak and Raptor are attracting long wait times, but it is best to contact local dealers for more accurate information, as stock may vary depending on localised demand.
