The new BMW X3 and X4 M40i hunters are here! 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 SUV and Coupe price and specs confirmed

The new-generation Mercedes-AMG GLC43 has arrived in both SUV and coupe body-styles.

Mercedes-AMG has announced pricing and specification for its GLC43 as the SUV and Coupe go on sale in Australia.
Following the launch of the new-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC300 last year, the first of the high-performance AMG versions has finally arrived in both SUV and Coupe body-styles.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC43 SUV lists for $136,400 plus on-road costs, while the Coupe is $146,900. Both are available to buy now and have arrived ahead of the range topping Mercedes-AMG GLC63 S E Performance due by the middle of this year.

In this new-generation of the GLC43, a high-output 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine making 310kW and 500Nm replaces the 287kW/520Nm turbo-petrol V6 in the outgoing model. Drive goes to all four wheels via nine-speed automatic transmission.

Standard features for both SUV and Coupe versions of the GL 43 include the Mercedes-AMG Exterior and AMG Exterior Night packages with a bootlid spoiler. There's also 20-inch AMG light alloy wheels with silver-painted brake callipers.

The cabin comes standard with the Mercedes-AMG Interior package, leather upholstery, an MBUX multimedia system with an 11.9-inch media display with sat-nav. There's also Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, plus a Burmester sound sound system.

Mercedes-AMG's Active Ride control steel-spring suspension with adaptive dampers and active rear axle steering are also included as standard.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC43 SUV lists for 6,400 plus on-road costs.

"The Mercedes-AMG GLC range is an absolute success with our customers," CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH Michael Schiebe says.

“The all-wheel-drive system, the active rear-axle steering, and the quick-shifting transmission enhance the emotionally appealing hallmark AMG driving experience."

The new GLC43 is also quicker from 0-100km/h, too, well just. The previous generation GLC43 with its V6 could do the sprint in 4.9 seconds, while the new-gen with its turbo four-cylinder can beat it there in just 4.8 seconds.

The cabin comes standard with the Mercedes-AMG Interior package.

Mercedes-AMG were able to extract a high output from such a small-capacity engine by using an electric turbocharger that the brand says was developed through Formula 1 involvement.

The upcoming Mercedes-AMG GLC63 S E Performance will of course be faster, more powerful... and more expensive when it arrives in a couple of months' time.

Powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain that also makes use of a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder, the GLC63 S E Performance makes a staggering 500kW and 1020Nm and can have the 0-100km/h over and down with in 3.5 seconds. The price is expected to list for about $200,000.
