Take that, Toyota LC300! 2023 Land Rover Defender celebrates brand's 75th anniversary with Limited Edition, confirmed for Australia

Land Rover is celebrating its 75th anniversary with the reveal of the Defender 75th Limited Edition, complete with heritage styling inside and out.

The model specifically nods to the reveal of the Land Rover Series I at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1948 and features an exclusive paint colour called Grasmere Green, which is reminiscent of the light green early Land Rovers wore.

Confirmed for Australia, the Land Rover Defender 75th Limited Edition will be available in both three-door 90 and longer five-door 110 body styles, though all 75th Limited Editions will have the same mechanical specifications.

Each Defender will be a P400, meaning they’ll run on Land Rover’s 3.0-litre inline six Ingenium petrol engine, putting out 294kW and 550Nm.

Specifically for the 75th Limited Edition, the Defender wears 20-inch alloys in body-matching Grasmere Green, as well as ‘75 Years’ graphics. Inside, the same green features on the dash highlight and the doors, while the rest of the cabin is primarily black.

A total of 75 Defender 75th Limited Editions will be available in Australia, with pricing starting at $152,077 before on-road costs for the Defender 90 P400, up to $156,157 for the Defender 110 P400. 25 Defender 90s and 50 110s will make up the available units locally.

In terms of overall features, the 75th Limited Edition borrows mostly from the high-spec Defender HSE, which starts at $129,900 in Defender 110 P400 HSE guise.

This means a panoramic roof, 14-way adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel and a tow bar are all mod cons the 75th Limited Edition provides.

Defender currently makes up the bulk of Land Rover’s local sales, having sold 1051 units in 2022 so far, so expect Aussies to snap up the 75th Limited Editions relatively quickly.

In addition to the Defender, Land Rover has also announced some accessories as its ‘Lifestyle Collection’ which includes a minimalist watch and backpack, both bearing similar 75 Year graphics to the car.
