South Korea’s luxe electric mid-size SUV has been given a tech boost, with some new features, like over-the-air updates and extra safety features, better arming the Genesis GV60 to take on its European rivals.
To account for the updates, pricing for the Genesis GV60 has been nudged up by $4000 on each variant, meaning the base AWD model now starts from $107,700 before on-road costs, and the higher-spec Performance AWD grade is a $114,700 ask.
The GV60 now comes with more features for both models, including extra airbags on the rear side of the interior for the second row, plus an air purification system and extra footwell ambient lighting.
The GV60 can now also be unlocked with face recognition via a camera in the driver side door, while a fingerprint reader start ‘button’ is also added.
The more powerful Performance variant also gains ‘Virtual Gear Shift’ paddles on the steering wheel which create “a simulated sequential gear-shifting experience”.
The GV60 also gains the brand’s Genesis Connected Services (GCS) suite, which is a a complimentary 5-year subscription accessed by an app which allows the owner to use information services for traffic and weather, as well as check in on the car’s charge level, find a charge station, or even find the car itself.
Matte paint is available as a $2000 option for the Performance AWD variant.
The GV60 remains mechanically unchanged, however, with the AWD base grade, making a respectable 234kW/605Nm (74kW front, 160kW rear motor) dual-motor arrangement.
The Performance specification features a 180kW motor at each axle, which makes for a 350kW/700Nm output.
Both GV60s use a 77.4kWh battery, as with other models on the shared Hyundai/Kia GMP platform, allowing a driving range of 400km for the AWD and 368km for the Performance AWD respectively.
The updated Genesis GV60 is available to order now.
