LCT price drop! Model year 2024 Porsche pricing effectively pruned after changes to LCT threshold

Changes to the LCT means pricey cars like those from Porsche have had a pricing adjustment.

A Porsche price drop? In this economy? Yes, changes to the luxury car tax threshold after the financial year changeover mean LCT-affected cars are all a little cheaper now, and this affects few brands as much as it does Porsche.

While many brands have an entire line-up above the now-$76,950 threshold, which was raised from $71,849, like Ferrari or Aston Martin, few brands do while still shifting thousands of cars each year consistently.

As well as the overall shift in the LCT threshold, the threshold for 'fuel efficient' vehicles raises from $84,916 to $89,332, meaning there are different price shifts for hybrid and non-hybrid cars in the Porsche range.

The difference is quite minor, however, with the price drop for most models a consistent $1500 less across the range, and that of E-Hybrid models by $1300.

The cheapest way to get into a Porsche is a base model Macan SUV, now $93,800 before on-road costs, while a Macan GTS is $141,700 - slightly harder to be called 'cheap'.

The entry point to Porsche's sports car range now starts at $132,500 before on-roads for a Porsche 718 Cayman coupe base model in manual, while its Boxster convertible sibling is now $135,100 in the same mechanical spec.

For Porsche's larger models, the Cayenne large SUV now kicks off from 8,700, while the base hybrid Cayenne is 4,600. (E-Hybrid Coupe pictured)

Porsche's iconic 911 sports car is now a $277,800 offering for its Carrera entry-model, with a manual being available for not too much more in the form of a Carrera T for $299,200, the same price as the dual-clutch auto equivalent.

For Porsche's larger models, the Cayenne large SUV now kicks off from $138,700, while the base hybrid Cayenne is $154,600.

The Panamera sedan's new entry point $205,300 before on-road costs for a petrol-powered 'base' rear-wheel drive Platinum Edition, or $249,500 for an E-Hybrid AWD Platinum.

Porsche’s newest model, the Taycan electric car, now starts from 4,400 for a base model rear-wheel drive variant.

At the top of the range, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is now a $432,200 offering, also down $1300, but not down on any of its 515kW.

Porsche's newest model, the Taycan electric car, now starts from $164,400 for a base model rear-wheel drive variant, while its wagon-style Cross Turismo variant is a $185,200 offering in base all-wheel drive.

Racing video games, car-spotting on road trips, and helping wash the family VL Calais Turbo as a kid were all early indicators that an interest in cars would stay present in Chris’ life, but loading up his 1990 VW Golf GTI Mk2 and moving from hometown Brisbane to work in automotive publishing in Melbourne ensured cars would be a constant. With a few years as MOTOR Magazine’s first digital journalist under his belt, followed by a stint as a staff journalist for Wheels Magazine, Chris’ career already speaks to a passion for anything with four wheels, especially the 1989 Mazda MX-5 he currently owns. From spending entire weeks dissecting the dynamic abilities of sports cars to weighing up the practical options for car buyers from all walks of life, Chris’ love for writing and talking about cars means if you’ve got a motoring question, he can give you an answer.
