Lancia comeback! 2024 Lancia Ypsilon electric car revealed, launch edition limited to 1906 units

Ahead of the full model’s official launch, a special edition of the Lancia Ypsilon electric car has been revealed in a video and series of images by the Italian brand.

The 2024 Lancia Ypsilon EV hatchback, shown off in its Cassina Limited Edition variant, is the first in an effective ‘relaunch’ of the Lancia brand into the electrification age.

While only 1906 numbered units of the Cassina edition will be available, the regular Ypsilon is set to launch later in February.

Details of the underpinnings and drivetrain of the Ypsilon are yet to be confirmed - as is pricing and availability in certain markets - but it’s likely the electric hatchback is based on the same eCMP platform as two other EVs in the Stellantis group: Peugeot’s e-208 and the Opel/Vauxhall Corsa.

This launch edition was designed alongside its namesake furniture company Cassina, with the collaboration producing the unique Sapphire Blue colour scheme, velvet seats with a "cannelloni" motif, and the raised console table.

The Ypsilon is one of at least three models the brand has announced it will launch this decade, with a Lancia “flagship” model to launch in 2026, followed by a mid-size, pure electric revival of the Delta nameplate in 2028.

Chances of the brand launching in Australia are low, with a Stellantis Australia spokesperson telling CarsGuide  in 2023 there are currently “no plans” to reintroduce the marque here.
